In the trial court defendant and Gregory Billups were jointly indicted for both common law and felony murder involving the homicide of Willie McKibbens. They were also charged with the offense of burglary and two counts of felonious assault. In a jury trial Bell was convicted of each of the foregoing offenses. He was sentenced to death by electrocution on the homicide charge, to life imprisonment on each of the felonious assault counts and fifteen (15) years for burglary. The trial court ordered all sentences to be served consecutively. Gregory Billups, was found guilty of burglary only. Bell challenges all of his convictions on various grounds.
