After an eight-day jury trial, Vernon W. Newsome and Harden Jenkins all were each convicted of robbery with a deadly weapon and three counts of aggravated rape. The trial Judge assessed punishment as to each defendant at thirty-five (35) years for armed robbery and forty (40) years for each of the aggravated rape convictions. The rape sentences were ordered to be served concurrently with each other but consecutive to the robbery. The defendants raise numerous issues in this appeal, some singly and some jointly. Although there is no challenge to the sufficiency of the evidence, we believe a summary of the pertinent facts will aid our Discussion of the issues presented.
